REA is officially celebrating the release of 10 REA newsletter issues, so delve with us into a journey looking back on the topics we’ve explored so far, before moving forward to so many more interesting newsletter issues to come! Our newsletters aim to keep nurturing connections and collaborations all over the world, and as always, continue to promote and distribute state-of-the-art research, activities, perspectives, and plans for the development and incorporation of Resilience Engineering in practice.
In our very first issue, released in October 2019, our newsletter set out to promote the notion that maintaining, adapting, and improving system operations is not anymore considered only a challenge for safety-critical domains such as healthcare or transportation. Resilience Engineering is embodied in any complex, interconnected socio-technical system found in business, academia, or industry that needs to function safely, effectively, and efficiently in the face of change and adversity. And the topics explored in each newsletter emphasized that.
In every newsletter, we explore the world of Resilience Engineering starting from questions as simple as what is Resilience Engineering [1] and how it can be implemented in organizations [2], all the way into exploring how to build resilient cities [3], utilize data to promote resilient potential [4] or improve disaster response by investing on the interaction of citizens with emergency organizations [5]. REA also explores topics regarding how RE and Safety-II apply in the fields of cybersecurity [6], oil and gas industries [7], aviation [8, 9], healthcare [10, 11], construction [12, 13], environmental disasters [14] emergency management operations [15] or even entertainment companies like Netflix [16].
REA newsletters incorporate ‘concept corners’, aiming to stimulate debate over controversial issues such as diverse views and understandings of resilience, connections between resilience and risk, or the need for slack resources (see newsletter archive). The REA community further arranges RE webinars with thought leaders in the field, which can be found on the REA website. Be on the lookout for future webinar promotions on the REA website!
We are honored to have you as members of this community, and we look forward to more talks, events, and collaborations! It is our mission to further expand and collaborate with practitioners or academics from all around the world who are interested in sharing or debating over current RE issues.
